Much time has passed without an official update of the website. We had been hesitant to say too much prematurely, before bits were actually flowing accross the exchange. However, in 2013 we have been making the final arragements, and nearly have everything in place.
We can tell everyone that CIRA has joined MBIX as a seeding sponsor, helping the project get off the ground with advice, connection with the wider Canadian internet community, and funding. Through there help the projecthas gotten much more professional than our oringinal plan, and we are going to start with a lot of wishlist items already in place.
Equipment for routing and switching has been ordered, and is in the delivery chain, we expect delivery to Winnipeg in roughly a month.
Number resources from ARIN have been aquired. IPv4 and IPv6 for the peering fabric, and a second set for the services network.
The core switch will be located in the Grain Exchange Building at 167 Lombard Ave. The colo provider will be Global Server Center, who will provide a secure, managed facility for MBIX hardware.
